Impact
Six cohorts. 84 school divisions. More than 700 educators across every region of Virginia, working together to reimagine what school can be.
Since 2019, the Virginia is for Learners Innovation Network has brought school divisions from every corner of the Commonwealth together to reimagine what school can be. Across six cohorts, teams from divisions of every size, from rural systems with fewer than 2,000 students to divisions serving more than 50,000, have worked side by side on deeper learning, expanded equity, and student engagement. Early cohorts turned Virginia’s Profile of a Graduate and the 5 C’s into classroom practice through authentic learning, performance assessment, and community engagement, and kept that work going through the disruption of the 2020–21 school year. Later cohorts focused on leadership, coaching principals, division leaders, and aspiring superintendents to grow the capacity needed to sustain change. In every cohort, participants name the same thing as most valuable: the chance to learn from and collaborate with peers in other divisions.
